Hi, I have no back pain whatsoever.

My pain is primarily in and behind my knee medial side up into my posterier thigh ( biceps femor ).  I have had this pain 2 / 3 months now ... (27 year old male)

I am convinced it is a result of a repetitive injury from playing snooker 5 nights a week for 3 months and also running 3 miles 3 nights a week aggravating the existing problem.

on 14th May i quit both snooker and running and my leg has seized up ever since. I then began to feel a tingling feeling in my 2nd and 3rd toe , which has developed now into pins and needles all over my foot when i stand up or walk.

Seen my doctor 1 month ago who recommended insoles which haven't cured me, physio never helped me either.. seen another doctor who prescribed anti inflammatories ... which take pain away but i can't walk any more than 100 metres without having to stop and sit  down.

I'm convinced its not my piriformis as i have no butt pain ... almost exclusively in my posterier thigh ( biceps femor ) i've been doing a lot of reading on the subject ...

I should also add, although i am having trapped nerve sensations resulting in tingling foot , i have no problem when sitting down or laying in bed ...only when standing in the same position for a length of time or walking any kind of distance.

i'm an active person and this is destroying me ...please help .

Hi this would be an easy enough problem to fix for an SLM therapist but perhaps you are not near to one. The SLM Yoga combined with the ball compression work on your glute/hips will do it although you may have to add some localised work along the line of muscle as well. I am prepared to guarantee the results if you go ahead and get the self treatment program and I can be more specific in the private members area on the order and duration of each exercise.

Regards
Steve

The symptoms you describe are very similar to what I'm experiencing. I too was very active up until 6 months ago, running walking and biking for miles and miles every day. Then a severe pain started to develop in my hip. I'm fine sitting or laying down but when I walk or stand for more than a few minutes I experience severe pain in the back of my left hip to the point that I need to walk with crutches. I also feel a tingling or numbness in the middle toes of the same leg. I've had an MRI and an orthopedic surgeon thinks that I need a metal hip resurfacing. However with socialized medicine in Canada I'm on a very long waiting list.

I question that the metal resurfacing of the hip will solve my problem. The symptoms that I have don't seem to fit. I'm very curious, did you ever find a solution to your problem?

Hi Sam, hopefully Lurgan Liar will respond with an answer but I will put my two cents worth in. Normally a hip problem like this is from a short leg (not necessarily structural, just functional) and the solution you have been given will only address the symptom. If you decide to go ahead with that I'd suggest you be sure to check and if necessary, balance your pelvis also because if you don't there will still be pressure on the area.

Good luck,
Steve
