Painful Calf Muscles

Hi Steve,

Into my 11th week of the sciatica programme.  99% of sciatica pain gone.  On Saturday I saw an SLM therapist and during the course of the treatment I found that the most painful spots were in my calf muscles especially the left one, almost told him to stop.

The next most painful was on the outside of my right leg in particular a spot about 100 mm up from my knee where there appeared to be a knot for want of a better description.  He has given me an exercise for that.

What I am curious about is where is the pain in my calf muscles coming from.  I haven't had a problem with them any time before.

All in all however I am pleased I have stuck to the regime.  For about 3 to 4 weeks in February I was only able to sleep for an hour at a time before the pain would wake me and I would have to heat up my wheat bag to get another hour.

At present I am able to sleep on both sides and on my back, something I had not previously been able to do for many years.  Still have some pain deep on my right side near where the spine and tail bone meet but I am able to now lift my foot up high enough to put my trousers on without leaning against the wall for support.

I am now convinced that ALL my pain will be gone before summer.

Regards,

Dennis

That is great news Dennis, thanks for the feedback.

Often the tension builds up in the calf muscles from tightness in the back so it was probably a good thing that the therapist was able to get some of that out.

Hopefully it will be onward and upward from here.

Steve

Hi
Try gentle stretching exercises, alternate ice & heat while elevating the limb, & maybe the potassium from bananas might help. Also, try Achieve Ultra Health. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Dennis not sure if you are still having calf problems but for the benefit of everyone anyway I have been having great success releasing calf cramping using the compression technique in the self treatment book on the hips and glutes. Give it a try and let me knwow how it goes.

Steve
