My names calum

My back pain started wen i was at school playing football. i jumped in the air to header the ball and when i landed i was stiff legged and i couldnt move from the spot. after 2 weeks the pain went and i forgot about it thinking it was nothing being young but a year later it came back when i was joggin around a football pitch warming up. the pain used to go away but not anymore. iv seen 2 docters about my back and they both said its permanent and theres nothing they can do and when i asked for advise they said go to a chiropracter which i already went to for a while but did nothing for me. i saw a sports therapist about a year ago and the pain did go for a while but it came back and from then its just got worse and hasnt stopped. im only 20 and the people iv seen about it said its strange for someone so young to have back troubles. the pain is changing my life for the worse. i jus finished a 2 year course at college and now im a qualified plasterer which means nothing to me now. i get depressed so easy because of the pain thinking of the things i want to do but cant. im not jus worried about my back anymore its alot of things. my fitness has decreased so much since i cant play sports anymore or go to the gym since it jus makes the pain worse. it stresses me out so much i jus want to cry and smash everything in sight. iv lost my job my fitness and thinking about my future its making me lose my mind. im willing to do anything to make it better no matter what.

im not hoping for your advise to cure my back i just need to know if theres anything i can do to help it out a little.

Hi Calum,
I don't mean this in a smart arse way but **** happens you know and no matter what it is, you need to be strong and get on top of it. As you know there are always people worse off than you and although you mightn't see it there will be a simple enough solution out there for your problem, it's just a matter of finding it.

I would like to think you are on the right track right now but I guess that depends where you live and if there is a good enough therapist near to you. They do exist believe me but not on every street corner that's for sure.

I hope you have read the Bad Back Book by now and are starting to understand how your back pain got started. In case you didn't it sounds to me like you have a severe muscle spasm, dysfunction, whatever you want to call it and there may even be more than one muscle involved. It would have been half there already and the landing you did from your leap was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.

It doesn't sound unfixable from my experience Calum so I guess it comes down to what your options are and what you can afford to do in the way of time and money.

Assuming my SLM approach will fix your pain, and I do, would you prefer to try by yourself using my self treatment program, with or without the involvement of a therapist, or do you want to fly or drive to see me either at my clinic or at the treatment/ training conference we are having in Novemeber. These are the choice I would suggest you have confident we could sort it out.
