When is it time to start expanding exercise regime?

Before I found SLM program I was definitely overloading my back with too much exercise. Now I am trying to do SLM yoga in the morning and before bed if my body feels good. I also try to 20min gentle swimming in the morning and evening also along with mobility moves in the water.
   I have a difficult time walking and stay away from that other than day to day activities. Was doing very well on the elliptical machine. 6 months ago when I tried the elliptical my back would get inflamed by the change in elevation but now I can do 30min continuously without inflaming my back. I also feel that the elliptical helps my stride find balance in my body. I have stopped doing the elliptical since I started your program because you talked a lot about the dangers of overloading the body and muscle imbalance. So how will I know when is the time to expand my exercise routine?
Currently I am trying to sit more and do more standing during the day to strengthen my spine along with your program.

Use the crawl before you walk principal and do small amounts of something slowly increasing it so long as it doesn't cause any pain. You will be able to use the SLM Yoga to know if it is throwing your body out or over tightening any area.
