For you guys who also have herniated disc, what do you take for the pain?  My dad has it and I’m not sure if his pain reliever is helping him.  I wanted to ask that so that when we take him back to his doctor, I can talk to him about your meds and maybe get my dad a better med than what he’s prescribed to.  Thanks.

First off, what’s he taking for the pain?  I had an herniated disc in my lower back and was prescribed ultram.  Excellent drug in helping me manage the pain.  I take 50mg for every 6 hours is enough to get me through the day.  For very bad pain attacks, I take 100mg.  This, at least for me, is the best pain relief drug, it makes me feel “normal”, and it gets me in a great mood.  Do talk to his doctor for a better help.
