Title: exercise technique questions
Post by: RodLaverWannabe on October 06, 2017, 04:12:49 AM
When doing the squat warmup. As we get stronger and deeper in the posture. Assuming not to go past 90 degrees in angle. Is that correct?
Also when doing quad activation my body also wants to activate the glutes at the same time. Is this okay or should I stick exclusively with your program?

No 45 degrees is as low as you should go until you can perhaps hold the 90 degrees for the last few minutes. You must relax the glute muscles not contract them. You are trying to relax ALL your lower body muscles as you do it and although the tendency is to hold with them you need to constantly be letting them go.

Thanks Steve, gotcha on the squat technique.

I might have misled you on my 2nd question. When we are on our back, on the floor, with legs extended,  and you tell us to activate the quads hard. I feel like my body is telling me to activate the glutes hard too. Since I feel a big difference from my right and left glute. Can I do that? It feels right, feels like it is helping the pelvis or sacrum realign and get even in both glutes.

Yes that is ok. Eventually you do need to be able to isolate the different muscle groups easily.

One note on the self treatment questions, do you see the section below this one for program purchasers. Please post you questions related to the STP there and you will be able to read what others have posted as well.
